Following Ebola outbreak in the Countries of DRC and Uganda, marking the significant cases and deaths. RAPID Tanzania as the organization with the main objective on Preparedness and response in disasters including disease, took an initiative to conduct the awareness campaign on Ebola outbreak preparedness and response to communities along the borders in Misenyi District between June 1st to 5th 2026. Through collaboration with the Prime Ministers office (DMD/One Health), Kagera Region and Misenyi District Health experts, RAPID Tanzania conducted the awareness and education campaign on Ebola outbreak preparedness to 5 Primary schools in Misenyi District Kagera region. The provided health initiatives on Ebola to students, were, meaning and history of Ebola viruses, types, prevention, transmissions infection prevention controls including safe hand washing, and distribution of IEC Materials for references. Five (5) Primary Schools were reached during the campaign which were, Mutukula, Kabakesa, Byamtemba. Byeju and Nkerenge. A total of 7995 students were reached during education exercises with the estimated indirect beneficiaries through students take home massage of 54917 community members. The initiative raised the importance of engaging community as the core intervention in Ebola outbreak preparedness and prevention. The engagements opened the request from the local authorities to request the expansion of the scope, extending to more schools and communities in the high risk areas in Kagera. The initiative was made in collaboration with officials from Regional Administrative Secretary Kagera Region and District Executive Director Misenyi District
